There is a variety of beaches to choose from in Principe. Not many have an easy access, but one thing is for sure, every single one is worth the effort. Here you will find some suggestions.

MARGARIDA BEACH

All beaches of the Island are just perfect for relaxing and contemplating the magnificent landscape that surrounds them. The Margarida beach is no exception.

BANANA BEACH

BANANA BEACH

The most famous beach of the Island, the Banana beach is a must see for visitors, and much appreciated by the locals as well. Its name comes from the great resemblance it has with the fruit when seen from the Bela Vista viewpoint uphill.

CABUNGO BEACH

CABUNGO BEACH

Right by the Margarida beach, this small stretch of sand is ideal for nature lovers. Luxurious vegetation and huge trees surround the beach. If you visit it don’t miss out on the forest trails that leave from it towards the forest.

GRANDE DO SUL BEACH

GRANDE DO SUL BEACH

Situated on the south of the Island, this beach is very rarely visited due to the lack of transportation and low accessibility. The more adventurous can follow the trail, a tricky one, which starts in the Terreiro Velho. For the comfort-lovers, a boat ride is suggested.

BOI BEACH

BOI BEACH

An absolute must-see of the Island – it is one of the best beaches in the world. This famous beach, right by the Islet of the Mosteiros, demands a visit. And if you like snorkelling, you have reached your destination. There is only one road to access it by jeep, but approaching by sea is absolutely is an unforgettable experience.

SUNDY BEACH

Situated in a fishing village, it is a privileged spot to get to know the Island’s culture and its people. It serves as the beach of one of the best known Roças of the Island, the Roça Sundy, and if you follow the trail suggested by the locals you will find a surprisingly beautiful setting to have a swim.

SÃO TOMÉ BEACH

SÃO TOMÉ BEACH

Completely virgin, pristine and wild, it is a dream for getting in touch with the true wilderness of the Island. In the far south of the western side of the Island it can be accessed by boat. It is a ride you will not want to miss. In the whale season (July to November) you will most likely be accompanied by the gentle giants that come to the shores of the Island.

As its name suggests, the private beach of the Bom Bom Island Resort is one of the best of the Island, together with the Santa Rita beach on the opposite side of the hotel. It offers a unique scenery and unforgettable memories. You will leave certain of wanting to come back and with lasting memories.

GRANDE DO NORTE BEACH

GRANDE DO NORTE BEACH

It is the longest beach of the northern part of the Island. There is a wonderful river mouth on one of the ends of the beach and it is a preferred setting for turtles to appear in the nesting season. It is an amazingly beautiful beach.
