DISTRIBUTION/OBSERVATION SPOTS: It occurs along the entire length of shore around the Island. It is a constant presence at the western Bom Bom Island Resort Beach and also on the mouth of the Papagaio River, right by the Santo Antonio Beach.

FEEDING: Its feeds mostly on small fish and tadpoles, but on the beach it is often seen preying on sand fleas.

REPRODUCTION: It nests between August and February on deep holes it digs on natural clay walls.

CONSERVATION STATUS: LC. It is not threatened at all.
